Do I need to already be a licensed travel agent?

You should hold or be eligible for any seller-of-travel registration required in your state of residence. If you do not yet hold an IATAN or CLIA card, Optima's internal credentialing process may help you obtain one during onboarding.

Is this a W-2 job or independent contractor work?

Advisors affiliate with Optima as independent contractors. They set their own hours, build their own client book, and operate their practice as a business subject to Optima's policies and applicable laws.

Do I need my own E&O insurance?

Advisors need at least $1 million in Errors and Omissions coverage. Advisors without existing coverage may be able to join Optima's group policy at a discounted rate during onboarding.

What systems will I use?

Advisors use Guesty for Optima-managed villa inventory, Expedia TAAP for third-party air, hotel, and package bookings, and the Optima Advisor Portal for CRM, commission tracking, and marketing assets.

Are there fees to join?

There is no franchise or desk fee. Optima's compensation comes from the host-agency override on advisor bookings.

A Transparent Split With No Desk Fees

Optima retains a host-agency override on each booking and the remaining commission goes to the advisor. The override decreases and the advisor share increases as trailing 12-month booked volume moves into a higher tier.

$0 to $99K trailing volume. Managed-villa override: 25%. Third-party override: 30%. Advisor keeps: 70% to 75%.
Senior Advisor
$100K to $299K trailing volume. Managed-villa override: 22%. Third-party override: 27%. Advisor keeps: 73% to 78%.
Elite Advisor
$300K to $749K trailing volume. Managed-villa override: 20%. Third-party override: 25%. Advisor keeps: 75% to 80%.
Optima Circle
$750K or more trailing volume. Managed-villa override: 19%. Third-party override: 22%. Advisor keeps: 78% to 82%.
Additional Earnings
Two-point Villa Specialist bonus after regional certification. 3% override on personally recruited advisors for 12 months. $500 ramp bonus after $25K booked in the first 90 days.
