Two-bedroom villas in Bahía de Banderas for Semana Santa week

Terrace of a two-bedroom villa at Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta in Bahía de Banderas, Nayarit, with a plunge pool and loungers in March afternoon light

For a 20–27 March week in Bahía de Banderas with two bedrooms and roughly $5,000 to $10,000 for the stay, there are two homes in our Nayarit portfolio you should put side by side first: Vidanta Grand Luxxe Full Amenities, a two-bedroom Master Villa at Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta that sleeps eight, and 2BD Vidanta: Sunset Terrace, Luxury, also two bedrooms and also sleeping eight. If your group is six or fewer and you'd rather be north along the bay, Villa del Palmar Oceanview Resort Amenities is the third to review. Beyond those, we hold a small cluster of other two-bedroom Grand Luxxe villas, and a holiday week is exactly when having several of the same floor plan matters.

Ask us for a quote on the dates before you fall for any one of them. Holiday-week pricing moves, minimum stays apply, and the only number worth planning around is a live one.

Start with how many of you there are, not how many bedrooms

Two bedrooms is the search term. Occupancy is the actual constraint, and in this market the two diverge sharply.

Villa del Palmar Oceanview is a two-bedroom suite at the Flamingos resort in Nuevo Vallarta, sleeping six: a king in the master, two queens in the second room, and a sofa bed in the living area. That's a clean fit for two couples plus kids, or a family of five or six who don't want anyone on an air mattress.

The Grand Luxxe Master Villas are a different animal. Two bedrooms, but around 3,100 square feet of them, two master suites each with its own jacuzzi tub and private deck, and a den with a sleeper sofa. Listed occupancy is eight. Six adults and two kids live well in that footprint. Eight adults share two bedrooms, which works for a group of friends who genuinely don't mind and doesn't work for anyone who does. Count sleepers honestly before you book, because the square footage flatters the bed count.

If your eight includes two couples who each want a door, the honest answer is to stop looking at two-bedroom listings. Three Bedroom Estates Villa with Platinum Benefits adds a third bedroom with twin beds and five bathrooms, three with jacuzzi tubs, and keeps the same plunge-pool terrace. It sits in a higher tier than the two-bedrooms, so get both quoted and let the difference decide.

What a Grand Luxxe villa actually gets you for the week

A kitchen you'd actually cook in, a wrap-around terrace with a plunge pool, and a resort the size of a small town outside the door. That last part is the reason people choose this address over a standalone house, and during Semana Santa it's also the reason it holds up: when the public beaches up the coast fill with day-trippers, having three golf courses, Spatium spa with its hydrotherapy annex, and more than forty restaurants on one property means nobody in your group has to get in a car to have a good day.

The entertainment programming is relentless in a way that reads as a gimmick until you have teenagers. Santuario runs nightly, there's a nightly show of light and fountains on the lake, and theme nights on the Grand Bliss beach. Golfers get the Nayar and Vidanta Vallarta courses plus the ten-hole par-three Lakes course, which is lit for night play. Which of those are included with your specific villa and dates, and which carry a fee, is a question for the quote rather than the listing.

Among our two-bedroom Vidanta villas, Oceanfront Grand Luxxe with Resort Amenities and Grand Luxxe Villa with VIP resort amenities add a bbq area to the terrace, which earns its keep when you've got eight people and no interest in a restaurant reservation at eight-thirty. Grand Luxxe five diamond beach resort is a fourth version of the same plan. Tell us the week and the headcount and we'll tell you which of them are open.

The six-guest option up at Flamingos

Villa del Palmar Oceanview sits at the northern end of Nuevo Vallarta, on the Flamingos stretch of the bay, which is a quieter, more residential piece of coast than the Vidanta complex. The suite runs around 1,300 square feet with three bathrooms, a jacuzzi, a bbq area, and a pool table, plus toys in the unit, which is the sort of thing you only notice as a parent on the second rainy afternoon.

It's listed as an optional all-inclusive resort, so the meal plan is a decision rather than a default. Ask us to price it both ways for your week. With six people and a kitchen, cooking two or three nights at the villa and eating out the rest usually wins on both cost and sanity.

Practical note on provisioning anywhere in the bay: the full supermarkets are the Mega and La Comer near Bucerías. Sayulita, for all its charm, runs on mini-supers, produce stands, a butcher and an OXXO, so a proper grocery run from up there means driving back down toward Bucerías, usually half an hour or so each way.

Where your week actually goes

Everyone staying in Nuevo Vallarta ends up driving north at least twice, and the geography is simple: Highway 200 runs up the coast from Puerto Vallarta, past Bucerías and La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, out to the Punta Mita peninsula, then on toward Sayulita and San Pancho.

  • Punta Mita is about three-quarters of an hour from Puerto Vallarta along the coast road. From there Bucerías is about half an hour back, La Cruz around twenty-five minutes.
  • Sayulita is somewhere around an hour from Puerto Vallarta depending on traffic, and a short twenty to thirty minutes from Punta Mita. San Pancho is another ten to fifteen minutes north of Sayulita, and Lo de Marcos ten minutes beyond that.
  • The Marietas Islands are thirty to forty minutes by boat from Sayulita.

Two market notes that will shape your days. Bucerías runs three weekly markets: the Monday Market and the Forever Spring Market on Wednesdays, both nine until one, and the Art Walk on Thursday afternoons. Sayulita's Mercado del Pueblo, behind the Comex paint store on Calle Revolución north of the bridge, runs November through April, ten to two, but it closes for Semana Santa and the week after. If your dates land in that window, don't build a morning around it. Confirm before you drive up.

On surf: the breaks around Punta Mita and Sayulita are the reason half of Nayarit's visitors come, and WildMex and Buena Ola both run lessons, rentals and guided trips out of that stretch. None of the two-bedroom villas above is a surf-side house, so you're driving to the water. If surfing is the point of the trip rather than a day of it, tell us when you enquire and we'll talk about where to put you. Our 7BD Exclusive Property On Beach near Punta Mita sits four steps from a private beach with surfable waves at walking distance, but it's a seven-bedroom house for fourteen, so it only makes sense if your group grows.

Semana Santa changes the week, so plan around it

Crowded beach and main street in Sayulita, Nayarit during the Semana Santa holiday week in spring

Confirm which calendar year your 20–27 March falls in and where Semana Santa actually lands that year, because the holiday moves and the difference between the week before it and the week of it is dramatic on this coast. In a heavy year, Sayulita's baseball field turns into a parking lot for buses, and more than a hundred of them come into town. Punta Mita's occupancy peaks, and the restaurants there book out well ahead.

Which argues for one of two strategies. Either base yourself where the amenities are and treat the villa and resort as the holiday, going north only in the early morning, or accept that you'll be sharing the beach towns with much of Guadalajara and go for the atmosphere rather than the quiet. Both are good weeks. The bad week is the one where you assumed Sayulita in late March looks like Sayulita in November.

Budget, and what we'd want to know before quoting

A seven-night stay in a two-bedroom villa here can sit inside $5,000 to $10,000, but holiday-week rates and minimum stays are set per property and per date, so the only figure to plan around is a current quote including taxes, fees and deposit. Book direct with us and there are no third-party fees on top.

Four things speed that up: the exact year for your dates, your real headcount split into adults and children, whether you want the Flamingos meal plan priced as all-inclusive or room-only, and whether anyone in the group needs their own bedroom rather than a sofa bed.

Every stay comes with a dedicated concierge, and private transportation, a chef in the villa, restaurant bookings and event planning can be arranged. Whether each of those is available for the specific villa and week you want is something we confirm when we quote, not something we'd have you assume. If you're arriving on a holiday weekend, the transport question is the one to raise first.
